For all those who've spent the last 13 years waiting for a new Tool album, your time is now. The band have just revealed the cover of their new record, Fear Inoculum, via their social media platforms. Not only that, but they're also now promising the debut of a new song this Wednesday.
Here, via the band's Instagram, is the cover for Fear Inoculum. Promised in the post is also the debut of a new track this week: "Title Track and Album Pre-Order Wednesday August 7th. Links will be posted tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6th on our Band URL and Social Accts."

This has already been a big week for Tool. On Friday, the band's back catalog finally hit streaming services. Shortly thereafter, all of their albums cracked the iTunes download charts, with Lateralus becoming the most downloaded album on iTunes. Meanwhile, a mash-up of Tool and Justin Bieber has gone viral, seemingly in an attempt to squash the beef that's emerged between the two.
While many fans were frustrated with how long Tool have taken to work on this album, frontman Maynard James Keenan recently used an interview to clear things up: “The four of us are a lot of fucking work, just to get anywhere, oh my God. Everything’s a fucking committee meeting and it always gets shut down…When you get successful, you think you’re right about everything and you’re pretty sure as that individual: ‘I am right and you are wrong, because I’m successful and we’re successful because of me, not because of you.’ It’s not that bad with us, but there’s a dynamic of, like, ‘I want this and I’ve always gotten my way and that’s why we’re successful, because I don’t compromise on this or that.’ I’m the same way. I’m totally the same way.”
In an interview with Kerrang!, the singer also let people know that Tool doesn't feel the need to pander to everything their fans ask of them.
“Some things are subjective, and some things are not," said Maynard. "Some things are logical: take a step back, take away all the grandiose stuff and the idol-worship part, and look at something practically and you’ll come up with an answer that’s fucking reasonable -- rather than this crazed Twitterverse of horseshit. Shut the door to the shit room.”
