M. Shadows, Tom Morello And John Dolmayan Cover Radiohead's Street Spirit

System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan has teamed up with Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows and Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello for a cover of Radiohead's Street Spirit.

The single is taken from John's forthcoming These Grey Men album, which features eight covers of songs you might not expect SOAD's sticksman to turn his hand to – including Madonna's Hung Up and What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club.

Speaking to Rolling Stone about the decision to cover Radiohead's gloomy 1996 hit Street Spirit (Fade Out), John said he finds the song "really touching and moving."

He continues: “I love the morose, in-your-room-and-it’s-raining-outside, it’s cold, and your girlfriend dumped you feeling that this song always gave me.… But when I listened to it, I’d be like, ‘I kinda wish the drums came in earlier,’ or, ‘How would [John] Bonham approach this song if this was a [Led] Zeppelin song?’ Because I’m such a fan of the song, I wanted to do a version of it in homage.”

These Grey Men will be released on February 28.

The album also features two songs with System Of A Down bandmate Serj Tankian, which will be the first music the pair have recorded together since Serj's 2007 solo album Elect The Dead.

There have been calls for a new SOAD album for quite some time, with fans so far waiting 15 years for a follow-up to Hypnotize.

Last year, in an Instagram post, John highlighted that if Tool, Rage Against The Machine and Red Hot Chili Peppers can work in harmony again, that maybe System could be the next.

"Three of these bands can get out of their own way and work together for a common goal, maybe the fourth can as well," read John's post. "Perhaps it’s time to put all the bullshit aside, check the massive egos at the door, and do together what none of us can do alone. Maybe, just maybe a Christmas miracle will happen. Maybe it can be a System Of A Down."
