Learn How To Play Tool’s Pneuma With Guitarist Adam Jones

If, like us, you've still been trying to get your head around Tool's incredible 2019 album Fear Inoculum, guitarist Adam Jones has lifted the curtain on the record's second song, Pneuma, and unveiled a short tutorial on how to it.

The clip was seemingly filmed before the coronavirus pandemic, with Adam posting a video of the performance along with the following words, “A little tutorial share. Dressing room guitar lesson of the last verse in Pneuma, made for my guitar friend and supporter Axe Of Creation (Gregory Balomey) while we were on tour.

“Bassist Justin Chancellor stays on the original riff so there are some nice little conflicting moments between the two parts,” he adds. “Not difficult to play, but it’s very satisfying.”

In other Tool-related news, Danny Carey recently revealed that he, Adam and Justin Chancellor were hoping to work on an EP during lockdown.

“I’m hoping, during this downtime, as soon as we’re able, maybe we’ll get together – Justin and I, and Adam,” he told Music Radar. “Maybe start hashing out some new Tool stuff in the meantime, maybe write another EP since we’re down and we can’t do anything else. I’m just kind of waiting on that, you know, waiting around but that’s all I’ve really got going on, you know?”

Frontman Maynard James Keenan, meanwhile, is seemingly gearing up to release a brand-new Puscifer album, having been teasing the follow-up to 2015’s Money Shot on social media.

Tool were forced to postpone the entirety of their U.S. spring tour, announcing the news in a statement by saying, “Friends – We hope you and your loved ones are doing as well as possible given the difficult time we all find ourselves in.

“As the spread of COVID-19 continues we have made the difficult decision to postpone the remainder of our previously announced spring 2020 performances. Previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled performances, which we hope to be able to announce soon.

“Stay home, stay healthy and please, wash your hands.”
