“We heard you. We’re coming”: SOAD announce South America stadium tour
Thankfully we didn’t have to wait too long to find out what System Of A Down were teasing: the band will be hitting some massive places in South America in the spring…
The lyrics for Serj Tankian's new song were written by the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan.
System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian has shared a video for a new song, Hayastane, with lyrics written by the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan.
The track arrived on the anniversary of the Armenian genocide – which the band have pushed for recognition of many, many times throughout their career, from songs like P.L.U.C.K. and Holy Mountains, to their incredible Wake Up The Souls Tour in 2014.
While providing a new song for the people of Armenia, Serj, Nikol and instrumentalist Kamo Seyranyan also came together to try to bring a sense of hope to all who are struggling with the coronavirus pandemic right now. On top of that, 100 per cent of the revenues from Hayastane are going to be donated to My Step Foundation in Armenia, an "amazing charity that is spearheading many meaningful initiatives within Armenia focusing on public health, education, culture, social welfare, environment along with other sectors in need, including the current crisis surrounding COVID-19."
"During these challenging times of pandemic and lockdown, we wanted to give the people of Armenia a present of hope that they themselves can share with the world," says Serj. "The goal was to write a song that represented a victorious celebration of the Armenian spirit, covering the past, present and future of our nation."
