“We heard you. We’re coming”: SOAD announce South America stadium tour
Thankfully we didn’t have to wait too long to find out what System Of A Down were teasing: the band will be hitting some massive places in South America in the spring…
Watch 100 gecs play a remix of System Of A Down’s classic single Toxicity during their recent Boiler Room set in Los Angeles.
In less than two months’ time, 100 gecs and System Of A Down will be playing epic Vegas fest Sick New World – and to get you nice and warmed up for that, you can see the duo remix the nu-metal legends’ classic single Toxicity.
100 gecs – Dylan Brady and Laura Les – unveiled their remix during a 64-song DJ set at Los Angeles’ Boiler Room earlier this month, which also featured songs by everyone from Van Halen to Skrillex. And SOAD feels like a particularly apt choice for them, given 100 gecs’ upcoming touring schedule and some of the huge nu-metal influences on their latest album 10,000 gecs.
In an unread excerpt from our recent 100 gecs Kerrang! Cover Story, we asked the duo specifically about playing Sick New World in May, as well as how they fit across other massive fests like Coachella.
“I just want to go to that festival!” enthused Laura of Sick New World. “So many bands playing there that I was not sure if I would see.
“We just like a lot of different kinds of music,” she continued of how they feel playing heavier bills. “I don’t know, when you get down to it all the industrial stuff is pretty much the same as what we do: it’s some guitars, drum machines, distortion, and talking about shit that sucks. I don’t know, the basic formula is pretty much the same. I can see why it fits in.”
