British voodoo-doom trio Vodun have released the trippy video for their new tune New Doom. Taken from their forthcoming album, Ascend, the track also features guest vocals from Chris Georgiadis of Turbowolf, and the video – by British filmmaker Rosalind Jane of Dreamworld Video – is as strikingly colourful and weird as we've come to expect from them. Check it out below…
On the meaning behind the track, singer Oya explains. "With mental health issues becoming more frequently found in people I’ve known for an age, or have just met, it’s time to confront the reality that we all have our demons. Mental health challenges appear every day, and the people who fight these battles are constantly carrying a heavy load. It is important to remember our dark days, so we can appreciate the light. It is also just as important to remember our dark days so we can muster understanding and compassion for others, especially when they might need it most. This isn’t always easy. Finding new ways to gain strength to battle and avoid as many casualties as possible should be encouraged, even if you are channelling something a little beyond this realm."
Ascend is released on September 7 via New Heavy Sounds – pre-order it here.
