Green Day side-project The Coverups announce 2025 London show
Surprise! Billie Joe Armstrong will be back in London next month for another special show with his side-project The Coverups.
Green Day marked the end of the U.S. leg of the Hella Mega Tour by pranking Weezer onstage while the band performed Surf Wax America.
It's been an awesome summer in the U.S. courtesy of Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer's long-awaited Hella Mega Tour – featuring KISS covers, awesome fans and bands making the best out of a bad situation when COVID struck. And so, headliners Green Day decided to mark the tour coming to a close with an onstage prank on Weezer…
The band sent out some costumed – or, in drummer Tré Cool's case, barely costumed – pranksters onstage at Seattle's T-Mobile Park as Weezer performed Surf Wax America, with frontman Rivers Cuomo in particular looking hilariously confused.

"What's a tour without a good ol' prank at the end?! Gotcha Weezer," wrote Green Day when sharing a video of the funny moment, while Weezer posted: "Final show of the U.S. Hella Mega Tour and Green Day knows how to party, pranking us during Surf Wax America! Thanks to them, Fall Out Boy, The Interrupters, all the road crews, and you for making this tour amazing!"
