From L.S. Dunes and Lamb Of God to GEL and GWAR, here’s what went down at Chicago’s legendary annual takeover of all things punk, metal and alternative…
Lamb Of God guitarist Mark Morton has offered an update on the progress of the follow-up to 2015's VII: Sturm Und Drang.
It's been several months since Mark Morton confirmed that Lamb Of God would be recording their new album this year, and now the guitarist has revealed that the follow-up to 2015's VII: Sturm Und Drang is "under way".
"[There are] no specifics to announce – no [release] date or anything like that – but it is under way, for sure," Mark tells Graspop Metal Meeting.
When asked about the pressure going into album number nine, he continues: "I don't think any more than usual. The new material is always really important to us, and it is this time as well. So we're really putting a lot of ourselves into it and a lot of our personal experience and a lot of good energy going into it. But at this point, I don't think there's any pressure, except just to document where we are at this point in our career and feel good about it."

Earlier this year, Mark assured fans that 2019 would be a big year for Lamb Of God, and that he and guitarist Willie Adler had begun the writing process for their next album.
“We are currently working on new material that I’m thrilled about,” said Mark. “I just had some sessions with Willie, putting together new songs. There’s a really cool energy going on with the new stuff. So Lamb Of God is full throttle. We’ve got shows coming together… I think we’ve already announced some of them for this year… And lots of new material coming together. So, yeah, they’ll be no shortage of Lamb Of God this year, for sure.”
