Pearl Jam Cancel Show In North Carolina Protest

Seattle superstars Pearl Jam have announced they will be cancelling their planned North Carolina show

Alt.rock heroes Pearl Jam have joined the likes of Bruce Springsteen in cancelling a planned show in North Carolina. Speaking in an official statement, Pearl Jam explain that their decision to axe their scheduled performance at the PNC Arena in Raleigh on April 20 was made in protest of the recently passed HB2 law that, “is a despicable piece of legislation that encourages discrimination against an entire group of American citizens.” Specifically, the HB2 legislation has caused outrage because it targets the basic rights of transgender people and strips many nondiscrimination protections from the state’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

In the same statement, Pearl Jam have also confirmed that they have “communicated with local groups and will be providing them with funds to help facilitate progress on this issue.
