Following on from his incredibly memorable work as Bowser in last year’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Jack Black is continuing to have fun with video game adaptations – this time joining the cast of the new Minecraft film.
The as-yet-untitled live action flick is reportedly expected to hit cinemas way down the line in April 2025, with filming kicking off in New Zealand very soon. The Tenacious D legend is rumoured to be playing the role of Steve Minecraft, and he will join confirmed castmates Jason Momoa, Emma Myers and Danielle Brooks.
At this point, though, there’s not a huge amount of information out there about this film – which is perhaps why Jack himself teased the news with an Instagram selfie reading a book called Minecraft Basics For Dummies (the pic is captioned ‘An actor prepares’).
In other Jack Black news, he’ll be reprising his voice role for Kung Fu Panda 4 in March, before returning to the UK and Europe with Tenacious D on the Spicy Meatball Tour in April and May.
