Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows has discussed his experience of being made into a playable Call Of Duty character, calling it "a total trip" and a "career highlight".
It was revealed last week that the vocalist would join Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4, as part of the new Operation Apocalypse Z Blackout – a collaboration that follows last year's Black Reign EP, a release which contained all of Avenged Sevenfold's Call Of Duty: Black Ops singles in one place. Now, the vocalist has revealed some pretty interesting details about how it all happened.
“I wasn’t sure if they were gonna use the model from Black Ops 2, but I was hoping they were gonna upgrade and do a new model,” Shadows explains of the process of being made into the character. “There have been some changes. I look a little different. I feel like the technology has gotten better, so I was excited when I learned I was gonna go down and re-do the motion capture. They did the body scans, took pictures of all my tattoos [and] really got it down. And then I went back.
"I did voiceovers, so I had to write a bunch of my lines. My buddy helped me with my lines. So we were thinking of funny things that we would hear on the battlefield that we wanted to have said in the game. Ninety per cent of the things we came up with were in no way gonna make the game – they were entirely inappropriate – but we got some good ones in. I got to go in there and try to be an actor – a voice actor.
“I’m a huge gamer. I totally get a kick out of it. My kids get a kick out of it – something they can actually relate to," he adds, before joking: “When my wife saw the character, I think I could tell she thought the character was a little bit better looking than I am in real life, so that kind of hurt my feelings a little bit!"
