Wings? They were only the band The Beatles could have been. And a jam between Jen Majura, Nicko McBrain and Joe Hoekstra is, not quite the band Evanescence, Iron Maiden and Whitesnake could have been, but certainly entertaining.
The cover of Wings' classic Live And Let Die – from the 1973 James Bond romp of the same name – is part of Evanescence guitarist Jen's 1Min Jammms series on YouTube, in which she and assorted rock luminaries take on classic tunes in clipped down form. Check it out below. And note that Nicko has the most adorable dog ever...
Previous guests on 1min Jammms – dubbed '1 min of happiness & fun' – include Devin Townsend, Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick, drum legend Mike Portnoy and Firewind/Ozzy guitarist Gus G among others.
As for Jen's main job, Evanescence released their new single, Use My Voice, on Friday, the third track to be taken from the band's upcoming album, The Bitter Truth. Featuring Lzzy Hale, Taylor Momsen and Within Temptation's Sharon Den Adel among others, singer Amy Lee hopes the song will inspire people to find something to shout about.
“This is an era of awakening, and full of powerful beauty,” Amy explains. “I hope to inspire others to seek truth, find their own voices, and use them as I step up to use mine. Don’t let anybody speak for you. Only you can do that.”
