Black Sabbath Release Master Of Reality-Themed Shirt For Black Lives Matter

We had serious T-shirt envy when Tom Morello posted this photo with his mother while wearing a Black Lives Matter tee in the style of Black Sabbath's Master Of Reality album cover – and now the Birmingham heavy metal legends have released an official version for fans to purchase, with all proceeds going to charity.

This brilliant new piece of merch – which is inspired by the design of Sabbs' legendary 1971 album Master Of Reality – will begin shipping on or around July 14, with 100 per cent of net proceeds going to the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation.

"In support of Black Lives Matter, an official T-shirt themed after Black Sabbath’s iconic Master Of Reality album cover is now available," the band say.

Black Sabbath are the latest in a long list of bands from the rock and metal community who have been showing their support for the movement following the death of George Floyd. The likes of Fall Out Boy and Alexisonfire have donated money to various BLM-associated charities, while Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker covered Rage Against The Machine's Killing In The Name, and Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows wrote a powerful op-ed piece about why he stands behind the cause.

“If someone says, ‘Black Lives Matter’, and your response is ‘All Lives Matter’ then maybe take a look at the core of that reaction,” Shadows said. “Every life is valuable – that is a given – but right now the lives of the oppressed require our undivided attention. Yes, the police have an incredibly daunting job, and many uphold the integrity of their position, but if that is your point of contention, I say again: the lives of the oppressed require our undivided attention right now.”
