YUNGBLUD: “I made a f*cking rock opera double album”
Having been busy putting together the line-up for next year’s Bludfest, YUNGBLUD has revealed he’s also been working on music that “looks like it’s going to be a double album”.
Watch the lyric video for YUNGBLUD's freeing new single, Cotton Candy.
Ahead of the release of his upcoming second record Weird! next month, YUNGBLUD has unveiled a brand-new single.
His latest effort goes by the name Cotton Candy, and follows already-released songs God Save Me, But Don't Drown Me Out, Strawberry Lipstick and the title-track – all of which will feature on the LP.
And the catchy new single not only shows just how many genres the star – real name Dom Harrison – will inevitably be dipping into on the follow-up to 21st Century Liability, it also feels unashamedly free, with YUNGBLUD clearly incredibly comfortable with who he is and the message he wants to send to fans.

"Cotton Candy is about sexual liberation," he explains. "To me, sex and sexuality is about freedom and the idea that you can to lose yourself in other people of all genders, of all shapes and sizes to find yourself and figure out who you truly are. Sexual interaction should not be shamed, it should be celebrated because to have safe sex is to spread love and the world needs love more than ever right now.
"This song is so important to me because I see and speak to my fanbase, facing insecurities around sexual interaction and I want to let them know that it is okay to be exactly who they are and have the right to unconditionally love who they want and be loved in return."
Of course, Cotton Candy isn't the only new material we've had from YUNGBLUD lately; he appeared on the deluxe edition of Machine Gun Kelly's new album Tickets To My Downfall, starring alongside The Used's Bert McCracken on the Fall Out Boy-sampling Body Bag. Busy lad.
