YUNGBLUD: “I made a f*cking rock opera double album”
Having been busy putting together the line-up for next year’s Bludfest, YUNGBLUD has revealed he’s also been working on music that “looks like it’s going to be a double album”.
YUNGBLUD will be releasing his first new single of 2022, The Funeral, this coming Friday (March 11).
YUNGBLUD has confirmed that he'll be releasing his first new single of the year, The Funeral, this Friday.
After wiping his socials earlier this week, the musician – real name Dominic Harrison – then invited fans to RSVP to his 'funeral', writing in a message: “To whom this may concern. For those I let down I’m sorry, for those who let me down, fuck you but I forgive you.
“You are cordially and graciously invited to my funeral.”
Now, YUNGBLUD has shared the single's artwork, and revealed that The Funeral will be arriving in full on March 11 – pre-save it here.
Back in January, he teased in an interview with Apple Music’s Hanuman Welch that his next album – the follow-up to 2020's Weird! – will be incredibly personal.
“I’ve been in London, I’ve been making the third record and I’m just so excited about it,” YUNGBLUD said. “This is, for me, the most personal music I’ve ever written. I think people are going to be a bit shocked about that because all my other music is pretty personal [but] I’ve gone deeper and it’s pretty outrageous, to be honest.”
He also shared that, “There’s a lot of cool artists I’m working with on this next record. I’ve made a lot of friends. I’ve made a lot of mates on this journey.” Could one of those be WILLOW, given that the pair were in the studio together in December?!
Anyway, in the meantime, get ready for The Funeral…
YUNGBLUD will be playing a show at the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust on March 23.
