You can officially apply to be Smashing Pumpkins’ “additional” guitarist

Fancy joining one of the greatest alternative rock bands ever? If you play guitar, then you might be in luck, because The Smashing Pumpkins are after a new member!

Following the departure of Jeff Schroeder last October, the current trio – vocalist/guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin – have just put out a very real advert for an “additional” guitarist in the band (and they absolutely mean guitarist – they’ve confirmed that they’re not after a bass player).

“The Smashing Pumpkins are in search of an additional guitarist,” reads the matter-of-fact call-out. “The application process is open to anyone who might be interested.” If that means you, then you can apply now via SPGuitar@redlightmanagement.com by sending over “a resume and related material”.

Amusingly, the band are having some fun and seeing the light-hearted side of the situation, sharing the following posts on social media.
