What It Would Sound Like If Slipknot Were A Pop-Punk Band

It's hard to imagine what shape metal would be in were it not for Slipknot, but even stranger to think about how the band would have sounded if they'd all grown up on different music: what if frontman Corey Taylor played Green Day's Dookie non-stop in the ’90s? What if Clown's favourite album was The Offspring's Smash?

Well, SugarPillCovers has sort of answered the latter part of that hypothetical idea, sharing a cover video of what it would sound like if the ’Knot were a pop-punk band instead of metal.

A description of the cover (and an unusual re-writing of history) reads: "It was 2008, Slipknot had yet to begin work on their follow up to Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses). Corey turned to Clown and said, 'Yo Joe, this metal shtick sucks. Let's eat some pizza and think about how we can change our sound.' Corey then added, 'Ya know, my parents just don't understand.' Clown thought about this for a while, and decided that he too, agreed – his parents didn't understand either.

"To cut a long story short, they worked on a pop-punk album for the better part of two years, but eventually shelved it. This is the only remaining song from what was later dubbed as the Before I Forget (My Stuffed Crust) sessions."

Er, okay then.
