Joining the list of awesome rock stars who have (virtually) surprised our wonderful key workers during the coronavirus pandemic – from Dave Grohl to Lars Ulrich – is the one and only Matt Heafy of Trivium, who this week offered a shiny new guitar to UPS driver Hector Velasco.
Hector appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show (on a segment called Drew-Gooders) recently, having been nominated for the kind work he did in his community – specifically for brightening four-year-old Langston's day during his shifts, and then even giving him a special package. As a huge thank you to the Trivium superfan and all-round good dude, frontman Matt Heafy then surprised Hector with a gift of his own…

"Hey Hector, it's Matt Heafy, singer and guitar player of the multi-platinum metal band Trivium," he said in a video. "Drew told me you love blasting our music while you're out delivering in your community, so Drew and I got together to put together a special surprise for you. It's something a little bit like this thing right here, a Gibson Les Paul in ebony. This is the one I use, yours is going to look pretty much like this. I've been using these things for a couple years, I hope you love it as much as I do!"
In the video's comments, Matt then later added: "Thank you for having me on the show! Thank you Hector for bringing happiness to your community!"
