Watch The Network's wild performance of Threat Level Midnight on Jimmy Fallon

The Network made the most of their return to the stage over the weekend, sharing a wild and chaotic performance of Threat Level Midnight on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The performance marked the band's first live show since 2005 as well as the TV debut of material from last year's awesome second album Money Money 2020 Part II: Told Ya So!. And, on top of having a lot of fun onstage, the six-piece took the chance to have a pop at their rivals Green Day… who they are definitely, absolutely, clearly not. Ahem.

"Transmission success," The Network wrote on social media after tearing through Threat Level Midnight. "No other band in the world, not even the lowly Green Day, could ever bring the people a performance that looked and sounded so divine."

Billie Joe Armstrong and co. also posted about the set, writing beforehand that there's "so many insane rumours about these guys being us…" and posting afterwards, "We have nothing but the highest level of respect and admiration for Questlove, but even he thinks we’re The Network?!"

In an exclusive interview with Kerrang! last year, The Network drummer / vocalist The Snoo said of the constant confusion between his band and Green Day: "Some people think we are Green Day, but those people have obviously not seen either band or they’d know who was the superior musical act."

"We heard Green Day eats shit sandwiches, but it’s impossible because they don’t like bread," added vocalist / guitarist Mongo Fink. "That’s what I feel like when I hear their acoustic song Good Rodents. But serious, I kid the boys in Green Dan. Somehow they’ve pulled it off for 30 years. What’s next? A prequel to Kerplunk!? The pre-pubic hair years."
