YouTube guy Rob Scallon blasts out a dose of metal on a 14-string theorbo

Watch Rob Scallon Play Metal On A 14-String Theorbo

If you're anything like us, you'll be well aware of Rob Scallon and his talent for turning almost anything into heavy metal. In his most recent video, Rob turns his metallic fingers to the theorbo for a slice of what he calls "17th century djent".

His 14-stringed instrument is essentially a large lute with an extended neck, which you're meant to pluck rather than strum. OR JUST ROCK THE HELL OUT ON.

In the below video, Rob turns the traditional 17th century instrument into a contemporary metal machine, reinventing the theorbo as vital piece of fret-fiddling metal for djentheads everywhere. Of course, we're not expecting Animals As Leaders to suddenly adopt this mega lute for their next album, but it would be kinda awesome.

Check out the video below. Baroque 'n' roll!
