Given their incredible level of pyro during Fuel at last month’s Download Festival, it makes perfect sense that Metallica’s 1997 Reload banger has recently been used by NASA.
The space agency have shared a new video trailer for their Artemis missions to the moon, with Fuel scoring some pretty epic footage of the Artemis I rocket launch and the astronauts.
“What do Metallica and NASA’s Artemis missions to the Moon have in common?” reads the description from NASA. “Both love ‘Fuel’ and fire. See footage of the Artemis I launch scored by Metallica’s Fuel.”
The Artemis missions’ aim is to land for the first woman and first person of colour on the moon, “using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before”.
Artemis I was a crew-less mission that launched on November 16, 2022 and orbited the moon, before returning to earth on December 11. Artemis II is currently planned to be launched in November 2024.
