Two Year Break have unveiled a brand-new single and video, Don’t Bring Me Down.

Their first new music in 18 months, the song kicks off the young alternative rockers’ next chapter and what they call a “level up” from what’s come before.

“We chose this song to be the first single release of the band’s new era because we feel it nicely bridges the gap between the TYB you know and the new to come,” they explain. “In terms of meaning, honestly, it’s still up for interpretation. The song lyrics and themes have been born out of our frustrations. Frustrations in relationships, in friendships, in ourselves – even with the way the world currently is. It’s written in a way that releases our emotions and distaste for how human beings can act – the narcissists, the gas lighters, people with an ulterior motive that ultimately feeds their selfish agenda. We don’t want those people around us, bringing us down, leading us on, and giving us false hope.

“So yeah, in short, we’ve had enough so we thought we’d moan about it in some songs.”

Of its conceptual storyline, TYB continue: “Writing in this way then sparked the idea for artwork and music video branding for this single, as well as for those to come – creating the idea through artwork and film that we’re part of a movement in this futuristic city. You may notice for example the inclusion of two symbols, representing two ‘warring’ factions – The Resistance and The Regime (current leaders of the city), with hints in this music video of the band’s characters’ place within this Dystopian world. The Regime’s rule has gone on far too long; The Resistance are ready to make a stand. Ideas and themes will be developed throughout future singles – Don’t Bring Me Down is just an introduction to this new world and concept we're creating; a soft introduction to a fuller story we hope to tell through the cycle of our next record. And perhaps beyond…”
