There's A Fall Out Boy x Black Eyed Peas Mash-Up, And It Actually Works

While the postponement of several dates on this summer's Hella Mega Tour has left many Fall Out Boy (and Green Day and Weezer…) fans understandably gutted, it's not all bad news for listeners of the Chicago pop-rock heroes: there's a new mash-up of the band's 2005 smash single Dance, Dance with The Black Eyed Peas' Let's Get It Started to lift everyone's spirits.

And sure, not every single genre crossover that the internet births works; while we really enjoyed this Metallica and My Chemical Romance effort earlier in the week, some of our Facebook comments were less than complimentary about it.

However, YouTuber William Maranci – who was also behind the aforementioned "emo thrash" masterpiece – has just concocted a genuinely solid coming together of FOB and The Black Eyed Peas, and as one particularly surprised viewer in the video's comments points out, "This doesn't seem cursed? I'm either acclimating or this is really my jam." Agreed.

As Patrick Stump's always-on-point vocals and Pete Wentz' instantly recognisable bassline meet the infectious funk and hip-hop of Let's Get It Started's instrumentation, it's pretty hard to argue that the combination doesn't work. Excellent work, William.

In other Fall Out Boy news, Pete revealed earlier in the week that he could well start work on a solo record if we're locked down for the foreseeable future.

“I have a space in my head that’s always been more of an album,” he said. “I have a concept for it, I have a lot of time on my hands and I kinda want to do it. Are we going to be in our houses for another six months? If we are, there’s going to be an album. I also have one other song I want to do with Cheap Cuts. Sonically, it’s an expansion on [recent collaboration] Check Your Phone but thematically it’s about that first five minutes in the morning when you wake up and you’re in that post-dream state.”
