Travis Barker reveals he’s recorded two albums in the past two months
blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has been very busy in the studio since the band got back from tour…
There will be no Happy Holidays, You Bastard or Built This Pool-type song on the new blink-182 record, according to bassist Mark Hoppus.
From Take Off Your Pants And Jacket's hilarious Happy Holidays, You Bastard through to California's Built This Pool, blink-182's shorter 'joke' songs have become a huge part of their back-catalogue – but it doesn't look like their new record will contain any such material.
Replying to a fan on Twitter in one of his many Q&As last night, bassist Mark Hoppus responded, "No not at this point," when asked, "Does the new album have any joke songs in it?"
Is Mark trolling here, or will the follow-up to California take a darker tone? Based on latest single Blame It On My Youth it sounds like things are still very much of a sonically light and uplifting tone – but who knows what the rest of the full-length will sound like.
In the same Q&A session yesterday, Mark was also asked how many songs the pop-punk trio would be playing on their upcoming Enema Of The State U.S. tour this summer, "and is She’s Out of Her Mind one of them?"
To which the bassist said: "1 and no."
Very interesting…
In other blink-182-related news, there will reportedly be no new album before they play Warped Tour at the end of June.
Mark also recently disputed talk of former frontman Tom DeLonge rejoining the band.
“There is not any talk of that right now," he said. "I mean I’ll never say never to anything, but that is a completely unfounded rumour at this point.”
