Green Day side-project The Coverups announce 2025 London show
Surprise! Billie Joe Armstrong will be back in London next month for another special show with his side-project The Coverups.
A new Green Day single, Oh Yeah!, is arriving very soon…
Green Day are celebrating the fact that there's just one month to go until the release of their new album with some exciting news: not only have they confirmed Father Of All…'s previously alleged tracklist, the band have also announced that another new single is on the way!
The new song goes by the name Oh Yeah!, and is set to drop on January 16, ahead of Father Of All…'s release on February 7 via Reprise. In an interview with Kerrang! last year, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong discussed the meaning of the track – with the song originally going by the name Bulletproof Backpack (presumably it was later changed based on the fact that it samples Joan Jett’s Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah) – which is a recurring lyric in the Green Day version).
“It’s sort of about being freaked out around the polarisation that we live in right now,” he said. “Whether it’s kids getting shot in schools, or the closest thing that America has ever seen to fascism. Light stuff…”

As for the inspiration for the record as a whole, Billie Joe also revealed: “It’s coming from a place of feeling like you’re out of control, and you’re not in charge of your own body anymore. It paints pictures or vignettes of what life is like for me and for other people that, I feel like, are desperate. And I mean that in an empathetic way, where people in America have become very desperate with their situations. There’s factories being shut down, gentrification…”
