The 2025 GRAMMY nominations are here, with Spiritbox, Knocked Loose (featuring Poppy), Green Day, Pearl Jam, IDLES, Metallica and more all up for awards.
It looks like French experimental groove metallers Gojira are working on something new.
Only this May, French progressive groove metallers Gojira were saying that they were very happy with how their follow-up to 2016's massive Magma was turning out. Now, the band has posted a picture online that certainly seems to suggest they're in the process of recording it.
The following image was posted to Gojira's Instagram, with no caption included:
One...assumes that's a studio update, right?

In a recent interview, drummer Mario Duplantier said of the album, “It’s going well. I can’t give too many details because we still have to be on the same page with all the partners, and we have to give a collective release date...But I can tell you that we are working very hard on the new stuff. Work is in progress and we are very happy and super proud of it. We just can’t wait to give you more details.”
If the album is released this year, the band have plenty of work ahead of them. Not only did Gojira just get announced as one of the bands playing Download 2020, but they're also scheduled to play Exit 111 Fest in a couple of weeks time.
All this and the band still found time to send CHVRCHES a care package after Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta called them out of their line-up placement on the poster for Deftones' Dia De Los Deftones festival. “I thought it was really cool because it just showed that kind of thinking in the metal community isn’t stood for any more,” CHVRCHES vocalist Lauren Mayberry said of the gesture. “And Gojira actually sent us a merch package so we got a crap tonne of Gojira t-shirts. That was really nice. It reflects the community and informs the community.”
