James And The Cold Gun have unleashed a killer new single, Above The Lake.

The Foo Fighters-esque track is taken from the Cardiff band’s forthcoming second album, Face In The Mirror, which is due out on April 25 via Stone Gossard and Regan Hagar’s Loosegroove Records (indeed, the Pearl Jam legend describes them as “a shot of pure adrenaline”).

Produced by the band themselves and mixed by Brendan O’Brien, the new record follows James And The Cold Gun’s 2023 self-titled debut – and according to frontman James Joseph, it embraces and celebrates that same raw energy, which he suggests is something of a “gutsy” move.

“We’re massive rock fans,” he explains. “If you look at 90 per cent of the bands on rock playlists right now, though, they don’t always sound like rock. You can barely hear a guitar, and everything is super polished. We found ourselves wanting to hear new music that had the guts to keep things messy and as real as possible, so we made it ourselves.”
