Album review: Corey Taylor – CMF2
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor assuredly takes his solo work to the next level on commanding second album.
"I’m doing well, but still a work in progress…"
Stone Sour's Josh Rand has opened up about issues with dependency on Xanax and alcohol.
Earlier in the year, the guitarist pulled out of the band's massive Canadian tour to admit himself into a treatment centre, and he's now posted the following update:
"As many of you may already know, in January of this year I made the difficult decision to step away from the Canadian leg of the Stone Sour tour. I hit a personal breaking point and it was imperative that I address it.
"My high anxiety and desire to feel comfortable in my own skin over the years led to an alcohol and Xanax dependency. That along with aggression issues made me feel miserable and I just could not continue to live that way. Thankfully, with the support of my band, family, and friends I was able to come home and seek help.
"Now (three months later) I’m doing well, but still a work in progress. I want to sincerely thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and positive words. It means a lot to me."
Wishing you the best of luck in your recovery, sir.
Two months back, we also spoke to Corey Taylor regarding the situation, and the impact of Josh's absence on the tour.
“Oh yeah, he was missed," the frontman said. "But we talked to him everyday. It was one of those things where we were constantly checking in on him and making sure he was okay. That’s the support that we try to foster in this band: we want each other to know that we’re there for each other, and when you have that it just makes things so much easier.”
“We talk everyday – we talk about everything from the serious stuff to the joking around and all the funny and dumb things that we read. There’s a band group chat that we have on our phone and it’s just ridiculous – it’s just a series of really poorly timed dad jokes (laughs). It’s gotten more and more ludicrous over the years, but it’s one of my little joys in life, reading that stupidity!”
