Some American Voters Thought Kid Rock Won A Senate Seat

U.S. chat show host Jimmy Kimmel's "fake news" segment totally fooled this lot.

Last September, Kid Rock announced his intentions to run for Michigan's senate seat – but it turned out to be a publicity stunt.

“Fuck no, I’m not running for Senate. Are you kidding me?” Kid Rock told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show. “Who couldn’t figure that out? I’m releasing a new album. I’m going on tour, too.”

But that didn't stop Jimmy Kimmel having some fun following the mid-term election results this week.

As part of his Lie Witness News segment, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! team interviewed people in Hollywood and suggested that Kid Rock – real name Robert Ritchie – was in fact successful in his Republican senate bid. And people fell for it.

Stranger things have happened during this week's mid-term election.

Brothel owner Dennis Hof, who ran for a Republican seat in Nevada, won by a landslide against Democrat hopeful Lesia Romanov, despite dying a month earlier following a four-day party in celebration of his 72nd birthday.
