We've been getting a lot of hints lately as to what Slipknot's new album might be like – not just through lead single All Out Life, but via blood-covered drum photos, hints at personal subject matter, and a hell of a lot of excitement from the band members.
Now, frontman Corey Taylor has teased that the follow-up to .5: The Gray Chapter is going to be "evil" and "ridiculous" in a new interview with The Des Moines Register.
Even more interestingly, he suggests that the epic All Out Life isn't “nearly as dark and vicious as the rest of the stuff that we have that we’re working on.”
The musician adds that depression and a divorce have been incredibly impactful driving factors in his writing process, and will inevitably seep into the record, too.
“All I was doing was giving and I found myself absolutely, completely tapped,” Corey says of what he's been through these past few years. “You could see it in my skin. You could see it in my eyes. That’s basically the journey I’m going to take people on this album… show them what happens to depression when you have no chemicals to fall back on.
“It’s a pretty dark ride.”
Sounds very intense.
