Who are Slipknot’s fans?
We head down to Slipknot’s Here Comes The Pain tour in Manchester to meet the Maggots that had their lives changed forever by nine masked men from the cornfields…
Slipknot have posted a clip teasing their upcoming sixth album
Slipknot have shared another cryptic teaser for their upcoming as-yet-untitled album.
Posting on their official Instagram, Slipknot shared footage of a flight case painted with their logo and a big red X, while some feedback-ridden metal swirls around in the background. Could it be any more mysterious?
The post is accompanied by the words "Album 6 | August 9", which again gives no clues to what we can expect from the record, but surely it can't be long until we hear new music.
Last week frontman Corey Taylor and record label Roadrunner posted a blurry image of new a new Slipknot mask, insinuating that the next era of masks will be unveiled soon.
Late last month, the band shared some new, creepy vocals from the upcoming record.
Speaking recently to Kerrang!, Clown said that the new album is "like discovering Slipknot all over again."
He continues: “I’m not a fan of the sound quality of our first album, because there’s a noise in my head. I’m not speaking for anybody else here, and I’m not trying to take anything away, so, please, don’t fuck up my words here! The bottom line is, for me, there’s a noise in my head that’s constantly going as I grow old. When I started the band, I was 26 years old, okay? I’m going to be 50 in September, and the noise changes. So this album is like… not being given another chance, because we don’t need a chance. We’re here. But this album is like discovering us all over again as older human beings. You got a certain sort of war in ’98, and now you’re going to get another war in 2019.
The follow-up to 2014's .5: The Gray Chapter is due for release on August 9 via Roadrunner Records. Slipknot are headlining this year's Download festival on June 14-16 – get your tickets now.
