At their headline set at Japan’s Fuji Rock on July 29, Foo Fighters brought out Alanis Morissette (who had also played the event a few hours prior) to help pay tribute to the late, great Sinéad O’Connor.
Following the legendary Irish singer’s passing, Foos and Alanis covered Mandinka, taken from Sinéad’s 1987 debut album The Lion And The Cobra. “We’re singing this song for a reason tonight,” said frontman Dave Grohl before the song, with Alanis then adding: “For a beautiful woman, with high intelligence and deep empathy, way ahead of her time, who is no longer with us. This is for her.”
