Robb Flynn Shares "Heartfelt" Linkin Park Cover In Tribute To Chester Bennington

To mark the third anniversary of Chester Bennington's death on July 20, Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn shared a "heartfelt" cover of Linkin Park's In The End, along with a touching tribute message about his love and appreciation for the band.

Robb reveals he took on the Hybrid Theory classic at his birthday bash solo show in Oakland, California on July 22, 2017 – just two days after we lost Chester. The musician says that he and his band were "shocked and saddened" when they heard the news, while also "recovering from Chris Cornell's sudden and tragic death" just two months prior.

"This came along and hit us like a ton of bricks," he remembers. "I know people are gonna pooh pooh this, but I don’t give a shit. I love Linkin Park, I saw them before the first record even dropped opening for Orgy at the Maritime hall. I saw them almost every time they came to the Bay Area, and they always put on a fantastic fucking show.

"Played numerous festivals with them, saw them in Paris, France doing promotion for The Blackening, and I saw them again in Belarus [while] getting ready to tour for Bloodstone And Diamonds."

Robb adds that "it seemed appropriate to share this heartfelt cover" at this time, with plenty of fans in the comments undoubtedly in agreement. Nice work, sir!
