You’re up, Arizona and Mexico: Fall Out Boy will be heading over for a couple of festival appearances next year…
Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz speaks on the London duo's song about yer mobile
You're probably reading this on your phone, aren't you? Use it a lot, don't you? So does Pete Wentz. It's what makes up the basis of Check Your Phone, the new track from Brit electro duo Cheap Cuts, on which Pete provides narration.
Rather than a straight-up rubbishing of the piece of kit in your pocket, though, the song is a look at the ups and downs of what phones have done to us.
“Without a doubt, my phone has made touring, staying in touch and finding out random actors who voiced GI Joe characters from the 80s cartoon easier," Pete explains, citing an example of what we've all used our phones for at one time or another. “But my addiction to it is complicated – the last thing I look to at night is its hazy blur, and it is the first text message that jolts me awake in the morning.
“To me this song is about the anxiety it gives me, but at the same time, the way I feel a bit lighter when I watch a video on it of raccoons walking around like people or whatever. It is messy and filled with complex, opposing perspectives that seem to contradict each other – just like us.”
