Oli Sykes: "The New Album Doesn’t Sound Like What We’ve Done Before"

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past couple of days, you'll by now be aware that Bring Me The Horizon are back. In a big way.

First there was the unveiling of their colossal new single, Mantra. Then the announcement of their forthcoming record, amo, as well as a massive UK and European tour. Then they added a whole load more worldwide dates.

On top of all that, the band made their world-exclusive return to the cover of the latest issue of Kerrang!, which is out now.

Inside, we join Bring Me The Horizon in Los Angeles, finding a band with plans to define not only their own future, but that of rock music, too. We're not going to give away too much – you'll have to pick up the mag to get the full lowdown on their stunning return – but we can reveal that frontman Oli Sykes believes that Horizon's new record truly surpasses the band's prior material…

“It’s not that we’re not the band you know anymore,” he says, “but with this album we didn’t just want to rest on what we do well, we wanted to challenge ourselves. We’re not betraying our fans, but the new album doesn’t sound like what we’ve done before. And honestly, without any disrespect to the last album, when you put these songs up against the old ones, every song just smashes the old ones out of the park.”

amo was self-produced by the band's own Oli Sykes and Jordan Fish, and will be dropping on January 11 next year through RCA/Sony.
