Fresh from picking up the award for Alternative/Rock Act at the BRITs last weekend, Oli Sykes has taken to Instagram Stories to share a teaser of new music.
This latest snippet from Bring Me The Horizon’s highly-anticipated Post Human: NeX GEn album has a very cool, heavy Deftones-y feel, with the frontman himself clearly stoked on how it’s coming along – he’s seen giddily jumping along with producer Dan Lancaster in the video.
It’s not clear yet if this is a teaser we’ve heard somewhere before, with some fans thinking that it might possibly be the potential Billie Eilish collab, Limousine. Of course, it’s not actually confirmed yet if the pop superstar will make an appearance on NeX GEn, but Oli did comment that very word on one of Billie’s Instagram posts early this year.
Last summer, Oli said he wanted the follow-up to Post Human: Survival Horror to have a more “unhinged” approach, taking influence from the likes of Glassjaw as well as the “obnoxious, trashy and in-your-face” feel of hyperpop. “It’s not that we’ve lost that in our music, but as you become a bigger band, things do get more polished,” he explained. “I want to go the opposite way. Let’s be unhinged, let’s stop trying to make all the edges smooth.
“There’s no, ‘That song could be played on the radio if we don’t scream.’ It’s almost like we’re connecting to that time before Bring Me The Horizon had any prospects of being a big band. Back then, there was never anything but, ‘What do you want to make?’ So we’re trying to tap back into that.”
