Green Day side-project The Coverups announce 2025 London show
Surprise! Billie Joe Armstrong will be back in London next month for another special show with his side-project The Coverups.
Record Store Day 2019 is shaping up brilliantly – with special releases from My Chem, Green Day, Motörhead, Weezer and more…
The full list of Record Store Day 2019 releases has been revealed – and some very special vinyl is up for grabs this year.
The huge event is taking place across the globe on Saturday, April 13, with a ton of brilliant bands and artists unveiling one-off releases to help support independent record stores. Among the names getting in on the action are My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Motörhead, Weezer, IDLES, Beartooth, The Wonder Years, The Menzingers and iDKHOW!
“Record Store Day is a celebration," says IDLES frontman Joe Talbot. "A celebration of worth, artistic exploration and conscientious craftsmanship that closes the gap on mindless consumerism and allows artists and labels who care about fans and hold the relationship they have with the artist as paramount. That celebration pushes both sides of the music industry to be more mindful on how and why art and music is consumed and create something more beautiful and something worth more to label, artist and fan.”
Check out some of the coolest offerings below:
My Chemical Romance – The Black Parade Is Dead!
Previously unreleased on vinyl, it's the band's iconic performance live in Mexico available on 2 x 140g 12" black vinyl.
Green Day – Woodstock 1994
Limited to just 1,000 copies worldwide, it's a 1 x 140g 12" black vinyl album of their legendary set from 25 years ago.
Motörhead – Rockaway Beach
A purple 7" vinyl housed in a clear PVC wallet, this must-have is a cover of The Ramones' track, as well as a live recording of R.A.M.O.N.E.S. from Wacken Festival 2006. On a side note, there's also going to be two x 7" picture discs of Overkill and Bomber.
Weezer – Teal Album
The quartet's recently-released ace covers record on – you guessed it – 12" teal-coloured vinyl. They've also announced a B-sides LP, brilliantly titled Dusty Gems And Raw Nuggets.
IDLES – Meat EP / Meta EP
White 12" vinyl of their Meat and Meta EPs – the latter of which has never been released in any physical format before.
Beartooth – B-Sides
Two unreleased songs not used for their latest album Disease, available on 7" vinyl.
The Wonder Years – Live From Maida Vale
A 10" vinyl featuring live recordings from a 2018 session at London's Maida Vale studios.
On top of all the amazing records you'll be able to get your hands on (if you're lucky) this year, Frank Carter is helping kick off a launch party on the Thursday before Record Store Day.
“Independent record stores have always been a safe haven for music freaks, fans and aficionados," The Rattlesnakes' leader explains. "In an age where the world is turning digital and the very physical nature of product is disappearing into pixels before our very eyes, it has never been a more important time to get out and support the very place that provides more than just a song.”
