Tonight, the GRAMMYs are took place in Los Angeles – the 66th annual gathering of the great and the good of music from across all genres, with a whopping 94 awards up for grabs.
Six of these categories are devoted to rock, metal and alternative, and tonight saw Metallica pick up the gong for Best Metal Performance and Paramore walk away with Best Rock Album and Best Alternative Music Performance.
Accepting the award for 'Tallica was bassist Rob Trujillo, explaining that Lars, James and Kirk were at home with their families, but he lived locally so thought he'd stop by. Paying thanks to producer Greg Fidelman and the 72 Seasons recording team, Rob signed off his speech with an emphatic rally cry of, "Keep those instruments in your hands, let’s keep the youth making music, and keeping the dream alive!"
Although the biggest winner in the rock and alt. stakes was an understandably emotional Boygenius, who picked up the triple-whammy of Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Alternative Music Album.
