The big review: Good Things Festival 2024
Sydney gets rocked as Korn, Loathe, Sleeping With Sirens and more take a noisy pre-Christmas trip down under…
Slayer guitarist Kerry King's "first record should be smoking" based on the amount of material he's already built up.
While we continue to mourn the end of thrash metal kings Slayer, guitarist Kerry King already has plenty of material in the works for an upcoming project.
In a new interview with Dean Guitars, the shredder reveals that he's accumulated "more than two records' worth of music" following his final album with Slayer, 2015's Repentless.

"I've been very, very lucky with riffs in 2020," Kerry explains of his lockdown creativity. "Maybe because I can't go anywhere – I don't know – but riffs have certainly not been a problem.
"And looking forward into the future, what that means for me is I'm gonna be able to cherrypick the best stuff. And it's good stuff. I've got more than two records' worth of music, but to be able to go through that and cherrypick the best 11 or 12 [songs]… That first record should be smoking."
Kerry adds that so far he is the "only lyricist" for this project as he doesn't yet know who he'll be joined by. Earlier in the year, the guitarist hinted that new music would be on the way, teasing, "Let’s just say… Dean didn’t sign me for nothing!"
