Kerrang! Tour 2016 – Day Six – Norwich

The second half of the Kerrang! Tour is in full swing, and being on the road for almost a week calls for one thing: a decent breakfast. ROAM stock up on Greggs for the long drive from Newcastle last night to Norwich. The food of champions.

@roamuk takeover. We have our Greggs, we are ready for our long drive to Norwich. See you there geezers! #KerrangTour2016

We arrive at Norwich Uni to find Sum 41’s Cone pinning his hopes on beating his tour cold. Literally, pinning. Gross.

As ROAM and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes crack on with soundcheck, we catch up with Biters to learn some of their best lingo. Most of it can’t be repeated, but we can now use ‘lit’ in a sentence and it makes sense, so that’s something.

Norwich. Ah haaaaa!

After a smooth soundcheck, the early doors mean it’s time for Biters to get the party started and introduce Norwich to some good old-fashioned rock’n’roll.

Upstairs in the dressing rooms, it’s clear the tour has started to take its toll on ROAM, who undergo an interesting transformation before they hit the stage. Terrifying.

Sorry Kerrang. It’s gonna get a lot weirder from now on… #kerrangtour2016

ROAM keep the tempo building with another high-energy bangerthon, before Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes cause their usual commotion with a brilliant 40-minute set. “I’m fucking knackered,” Frank laughs in the crowd after a rowdy Fangs, taking a breather before Devil Inside Me and giving the crowd a self-described “rock’n’roll masterclass”. Hero.

It’s the loudest crowd of the tour so far as Sum 41 blast their way through a scintillating 20-song set, and the fans are clearly happy to have ’em back. There’s another ace cover of Queen’s We Will Rock You in the setlist, and a surprise rendition of Rancid’s Ruby Soho (also ace), before Deryck lets it be known that the pop-punks will be returning again soon… YES!
