Who we’re looking for
Kerrang! is seeking a talented Staff Writer to join our editorial team.
As well as a passion for music and an understanding of what makes Kerrang!’s world so unique, the right candidate will also be immersed in alternative culture and be brimming with ideas for stories away from the norm.
You will be based in our London office and be part of a tight-knit team that produces exclusive editorial and visual content for a worldwide audience on a daily basis.
You must be capable of working at speed with the ability to communicate clearly and assume leadership on projects as required.
Experience of writing for a digital audience is required, alongside experience of using CMS platforms. Knowledge of SEO is preferred but not essential.
This is an ideal opportunity for a young writer to break into the highly-competitive world of music and culture journalism.

The job description
The role of Staff Writer will be to write news, features, reviews and more across both music and wider cultural topics. You will be part of a close, London-based team who create engaging content on a daily basis across all platforms.
Exceptional time management is required as you will be working across multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines. You may also be required to work outside of conventional office hours.
It is also imperative that the Staff Writer can work autonomously and take full responsibility of projects if necessary.
A passion for the shifting media landscape is a must, with a desire to grow the Kerrang! brand.

Responsibilities and duties for the Staff Writer will include:
Writing news stories, features, reviews and more for digital and print.
Working closely with editors and the commercial team to create content.
Possessing a flair for news and an ear to the ground for what is happening on any given day.
Uploading and publishing content through Kerrang!’s CMS.
Interviewing artists and other key figures while working to a brief.
Remaining up-to-date on the latest musical and cultural trends.
Generating and delivering strong and engaging editorial ideas.
Proof-reading and fact-checking stories before publication.
Plus any other reasonable requests from the editorial and commercial teams.
Qualifications/Skills
Experience of creating content for publication.
Exceptional creativity and a passion for telling stories.
The ability to use content management systems.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
A strong command of the English language.
A professional approach to timekeeping and deadlines.
