"Come and find your future bandmates" at the sober social in Camden

As Slipknot's magnificent new album We Are Not Your Kind finally sees the light of day, fans have noticed how guitarist Jim Root had been teasing a song from the record some nine months before its release. Sneaky, sneaky.
In an awesome video with Fender back in November 2018, the six-stringer was asked to perform blindfolded while having to guess which guitar he was playing – and at the one-minute and 50-second mark, Jim dropped the riff from A Liar's Funeral. Of course, with WANYK released now in August 2019, this means it has technically been out in the ether for nine whole months, with Maggots none the wiser about what they'd just heard at the time. Nicely done, sir.
Of A Liar's Funeral itself, Jim tells us: “This is the one song that I was like, ‘That has to be on the record.’ It was a demo that I worked on at home, and I got really fond of it – but then put it on the back-burner while we were working on other songs. Corey put lyrics to it and then I just loved how heavy it was. It doesn’t have any thrashy, fast speed-metal kind of stuff, but it’s so melodic and has these grindy bits in it. Parts of this are, like, real horror (laughs).”
