Ahead of next week’s solo record I Want Blood, Alice In Chains man Jerry Cantrell has given fans one final teaser in the form of the badass title-track.

Speaking about what’s to come from the whole thing – while also certainly being applicable to this single – Jerry teases: “There’s a confidence to this album. I think it’s some of my best writing and playing and certainly some of my best singing. There are large chunks of this record where I felt like my face was pressed to the ceiling of my abilities, operating at the top of my capacity.”

The full LP is due out on Friday, October 18 via Double J Music, but in the meantime stick I Want Blood in your ears below:

Speaking to Kerrang! recently about the meaning of the title I Want Blood, Jerry told us that, “I was in Vegas with [co-manager of Alice In Chains] Susan Silver for Sick New World festival, and she asked me, ‘What made you want to call the record that? It’s a total fuck you!’ And she’s right! There are a few strong titles in my catalogue – Dirt, Facelift, Degradation Trip – so I don’t know that it’s outside the norm for me.

“If you’re lucky, you get the title from one of the core tracks, or something that embodies the work. I had both with the track I Want Blood. It seemed to fit the tone because it’s a hard-hitting record – a proper representation of what you may experience if you choose to dive into it.”
