Have Deftones just dropped a massive clue that it'll be out on September 25?
Eagle-eyed Deftones fans will have noted over the weekend that the band have changed their social media profile pictures to a simple black icon. The band's website now features "0925" in the address – a hint that something is coming? A hint that that something is the long-awaited follow-up to 2016's Gore? A hint that said follow-up could be coming on September 25? Very possibly.
It's no secret that the band were working on the record with White Pony producer Terry Date over a year ago now. And during Download TV's chat back in June, drummer Abe Cunningham revealed, “It should be coming along, hopefully, maybe September. I heard something. I can’t remember.”

Prior to that, in May, frontman Chino Moreno said the band were crossing the finishing line with the record and weighing up the best way of doing things with gigs currently out the window.
“We haven’t really discussed it too deeply other than we plan on it coming out this summer,” he said. “It’s not looking like we’re going to be able to get out there this summer to support it. So does it make sense to put it out when you can’t support it? Maybe. Maybe not. I don’t know. I think that’s something that we’re going to have to figure out sooner than later. But I think our mindset right now is just finishing it completely and making sure that it’s great. And then taking it from there.”
Discussing the sound of the new album and working with Terry Date again, Abe described it as "heavy".
"It’s always hard to describe it. I’ll say this… We can’t help but sound like ourselves, but just being back with Terry, there’s certain sounds that we developed with Terry that kind of became sort of our core sounds, and those are back again."
