Holding Absence have announced that they are parting ways with drummer Ashley Green.
In a message shared on social media, the Welsh alt.rock crew expressed their sadness and a huge thank you to Ashley for his time in the band, and his contributions to their music.
"Today it is with a heavy heart that we must announce that Holding Absence and Ashley Green will be parting ways for the foreseeable future," reads the message.
"Importantly, there is no drama or bad blood between us and Ashley. He has been the beating heart of our band for 8 years now, and his soul will always be deeply embedded in this band and its music.
"Truthfully, it’s not easy to spend so much time without touring and working hard in this industry without it taking a Toulon the people behind the scenes. After an extreme few years of touring and growing as people, we believe now that it is healthier for all parties to take some time away from each other.
"We will always love Ash, and he will always be an important part of our HA family, no matter where our careers take us. We hope you will join us in wishing him all the best as he continues to drum and work in our music industry, and we urge you to keep up to date with his journey via his socials and Patreon account."
Ashley added his own message of thanks as well, especially to those who have supported him and Holding Absence over the past eight years.
"Thank you. Really, all I can say is thank you," he says.
"Thank you everyone who has supported the band from 2015 & who will continue to support the band & myself going forward. A big thank you to all the people in our teams the world over, the A&R people who have so kindly and graciously supported me & have said they will continue to do so in my musical career. The biggest of thank yous to all the people who have come to shows, bought our records & merch, met us outside shows during load in, after shows in the snow, caught my rogue, flying drumsticks & have been so kind to us. You are the reason I continued on, through everything.
"To those people that have told me I inspire your drumming or musical influence at all, is one of the greatest privileges of my life & I hope this message continue to inspire you long after this moment! Lastly, thank you to Lucas, Scott, Ben, James, Feisal, Giorgio, Zac & Them, without whom, this journey wouldn’t exist."
It's too early to say who will step in to fill Ashley's shoes, but Holding Absence have a string of shows in Japan and Australia scheduled for January 2025.
They are also supporting You Me At Six at OVO Arena Wembley in London on April 3. Get your tickets now.
