Following a busy time playing shows with Empire State Bastard, last night (August 23) Simon Neil returned to the stage with the Johnston twins for the first Biffy Clyro gig since November 2022.

Simon, James and Ben headed to Yorkshire to headline TK Maxx Presents Live at The Piece Hall in Halifax (with support from the always-awesome Witch Fever) for an unsurprisingly excellent 22-song set.

The trio kicked things off with the epic sing-along of The Captain, before taking things up a gear with That Golden Rule and Who’s Got A Match?. Elsewhere, as well as all their usual massive hits, there were a couple of surprises: Only Revolutions’ Born On A Horse for the first time since 2019, and Puzzle’s Saturday Superhouse for the first time fully electric in a decade (according to setlist.fm). Their varied four-song encore then consisted of Machines, Wolves Of Winter, Bubbles and Many Of Horror.
