Ever since My Chemical Romance announced their reunion on October 31 2019, the internet music community has been awash with love and adoration for the kings of emo. Everywhere you look, thinkpieces and memes are strewn across social media, hurling heart-eye emojis at Gerard Way and co at every turn.
And, as ever, the mashup merchants of YouTube are getting in on the action. YouTuber Grave Danger – who previously mashed up Beastie Boys with Imagine Dragons and Marilyn Manson with Black Sun Empire – has spliced together My Chemical Romance's Helena with Katy Perry's The One That Got Away.

Taking the vocal track from MCR's funereal ode to Gerard and Mikey Way's late grandmother and mashing it with Katy Perry's 2011 bittersweet single about losing grip of someone you love, the results are something rather different to the original.
Obviously, it's not as good as Helena, swapping the macabre for something far more upbeat and poptastic, but it certainly adds a different, sparkly dimension to Gerard's words.
My Chemical Romance have slowly been announcing comeback shows for the tail-end of 2019 in Los Angeles, followed by headline performances in Australia, New Zealand and Japan next year. Can we have a UK show now, please?
