It's finally here! Now coming up to 26 years after the album's release in 2021, Green Day have just shared the 25th anniversary edition of 1995's Insomniac.
The remastered record is out on lovely orange vinyl as well as hitting streaming services, with the Oakland punks throwing in eight bonus live songs from their Insomniac tour for good measure: Armatage Shanks, Brat, Geek Stink Breath, Stuck With Me, Brain Stew, Jaded, Walking Contradiction and 86.

"Insomniac is finally old enough to rent a car (or whatever else you can do when you’re 25, we’re not lawyers), so we remastered it to celebrate, and we’re throwing in some bonus goodies to boot!" the band say.
"This limited edition translucent orange vinyl double LP includes the cover art printed on prismatic silver foil as well as an additional LP with eight rare or never previously released live tracks from the Prague stop of the Insomniac world tour on March 26, 1996 and an etched B‑side."

At the time of the album’s release, bassist Mike Dirnt told Kerrang! about trying to follow-up Dookie: "I felt at the time that there was a real urgency to what we were doing. There was a real urgency to stake our claim and say, 'No, we belong here.’ It was really important to us to make sure people knew that we weren’t just a flash in the pan.”
"The fact that that album came out, like, a year and a half after Dookie was us trying to cut off the bullshit in its tracks and just keep making music,” explained frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. "That’s all we wanted to do, keep making music. Sometimes I feel that Insomniac is the most honest record I ever made at the particular moment that it was written and recorded.”
