Disney announce official pop-punk covers album, A Whole New Sound

Disney have just announced a brand-new official pop-punk covers album, due out later this year.
Mickey & Friends have reportedly recruited a whole bunch of “iconic alternative, rock and pop-punk” bands for the project, which goes by the name A Whole New Sound and will hear all the Disney classics get the pop-punk treatment.
Though Disney are keeping the full tracklist under wraps for now, one band we do know are involved are Simple Plan, who’ve covered Can You Feel The Love Tonight for The Lion King’s 30th anniversary.
“We grew up watching Disney movies with our families and now we get to enjoy them with our own kids so it’s pretty amazing to have been invited to be on this album,” enthuse Simple Plan.
Speaking about how they approached their rendition, they share: “We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic. We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”
