Having made several fantastic onstage and on-record appearances with Foo Fighters over the years, Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet is working on own material.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 18-year-old is putting together a debut record, and producer Justin Raisen (Kim Gordon, Charli XCX, Yves Tumor) is among the collaborators.

A source says Violet is “incredibly committed” and is a “true torch singer”, adding that, “Her vocals are tremendous. She’s very talented.”

Representatives No Agency New York previously revealed that Violet’s music is “inspired by singer-songwriters of the ’60s and ’70s as well as the riot grrrl movement of the ’90s”.

Speaking to Kerrang! in 2017 about the potential musical future career paths of his children, Dave told us: “You have to imagine as a kid – as a child of someone that does this for a living – that their perspective might be a little different to most other people. So they know how unglamorous it is, but they also know how incredibly rewarding it can be, too.

“I’m surely not pushing them into the world of music, but they’ve got it in them already – it’s just a matter of deciding if they actually want to do it.”

And in 2021, Dave praised Violet for the fact that she “can pick up an instrument and learn it within a week. She has perfect pitch and sings from her gut. And she’s well aware that she’s the best vocalist in the Grohl family. To be her drummer is one of my life dreams.”
